Ralph A. Cantafio, Esq. and Reed Morris, Esq. have a substantial reservoir of legal experience pertaining to issues involving natural resources, including environmental issues, water rights, land use, and public lands. Our lawyers represent clients involving natural resources issues in front of municipalities, special districts, county representatives, state representatives, and federal agencies, providing strategic advice on regulations and other law impacting land use. In addition, Mr. Cantafio and Mr. Morris have represented individuals and entities involving the acquisition of water rights as well as the use of those water rights. Many do not realize that in Colorado water rights are property rights. These can be bought, sold, and leased with the land on which they are used or separate from. When disputes arise about water rights, these can be very complicated requiring a sophisticated understanding of state and federal law, mandating appreciation of not only water law itself, but the interplay between water law and that involving contract, real estate, and environmental law.
