Attorney Rick Eddington helps obtain $6.25 million dollar settlement for Iowa man burned by fuel from decorative firepot – CONSUMER PRODUCT WARNING
On August 1, 2011, Gene Othon, a 72 year old Iowa man, suffered second and third degree burns over approximately 17% of his body due to a fire that resulted from the refueling of a decorative firepot that burns a liquid fuel gel. Attorney Rick Eddington of Cantafio Eddington P.C., a law firm with offices in Steamboat Springs and Denver, represented Mr. Othon and his family. The case was filed in United States District Court located in Des Moines, Iowa. Blake Brunkenhoefer of Brunkenhoefer & Turman of Corpus Christi, Texas also represented the Othon family. The case was scheduled for a three-week jury trial to begin in January 2014. The parties instead agreed to a settlement in late December.
